Hot Styles Dance Company has been serving the State College and Bellefonte communities since 2004. We strive to deliver the highest quality of dance training, while nurturing each student's unique gift of talent and creativity. We offer all core dance styles including ballet, pointe, modern, hip hop, acro, jazz, tap, lyrical and musical theatre. Our dedication to community involvement has always been one of our highest priorities. We offer both recreational and pre-professional tracks to students of all ages.
We employ some of the areas most experienced, educated and professional choreographers to make up our staff. Our staff believes in continuing education by attending classes, annual conferences/trainings for technique, stretching, strength/conditions, communication, and leadership.

FOUNDER
My name is Dechaune Roane
Dechaune Roane is the co-founder of Hot Styles Dance Company in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, and has been coaching dance since 2002. With more than two decades of experience in hip hop dance, tumbling, and athletic movement training, Dechaune is recognized for developing disciplined, high-level performers through a coaching approach that emphasizes authenticity, technique, and physical excellence.
Raised in the Logan section of North Philadelphia, Dechaune’s foundation is deeply rooted in true hip hop culture and battle-style training. Known on the battle scene as “Batman,” he trained extensively in popping, locking, breaking, and house, developing a movement style defined by musicality, control, and intensity. His instruction prioritizes groove, texture, performance quality, and strong foundational technique.
Dechaune’s background in tumbling, martial arts, and gymnastics plays a critical role in his coaching methodology. He holds black belts from Tiger Schulmann’s and Kim’s Karate and has trained in Capoeira, Kung Fu, and Ninjutsu. This diverse training allows him to safely integrate floor work, power elements, acrobatics, and controlled impact skills into hip hop instruction, supporting dancer strength, balance, and injury awareness.
In 2004, Dechaune co-founded Hot Styles Dance Company, which has earned national and international recognition. Under his coaching leadership, HSDC has competed at Dance Worlds and Dance Summit, placed at U.S. Finals and StarQuest Nationals, and performed at the United World Games in Austria. He has also collaborated with and taught for dance organizations in Canada, sharing expertise in hip hop technique and performance training.
Beyond competitive success, Dechaune is committed to professional development, teamwork, and community impact. His coaching philosophy centers on discipline, consistency, and personal growth, preparing dancers for success both on stage and beyond. Through HSDC, he has supported organizations such as Relay For Life, March of Dimes, and Penn State THON, using dance as a platform for leadership and positive community engagement.
